Community

We are committed to putting landholders and hosting communities at the heart of our plans.

WiRES will work closely with landholders, neighbouring properties and communities to engage and identify opportunities to improve and share the benefits of the project.

WiRES commits to:

  • Engage and Consult
  • Listen and Respond
  • Benefit and Compensate

Sharing benefits

We will work with the communities along the WiRES route to determine the best ways for them to share the benefits from the project at both a local and broader level.

We will establish a Community Advisory Group made up of local representatives to help us understand the needs, priorities and preferences of local communities, and to identify the best initiatives to be supported by WiRES.

Our Community Grants Program will be overseen by the Advisory Group. They will also help to identify other community benefits sharing programs which will be shared through this page when established. These may include investment programs, energy solutions, as well as local training and scholarships.
